Biography

SKILLS AND OVERVIEW
Chris Cox @wild_canary is a 33 year old aesthetically self taught, fabrication trained, schizophrenically intuit, Large-scale and Edition Sculptor based in Rhode Island whose artwork first appeared publicly in 2012 as sculptural graffiti targeting the Ease Side of Providence,RI.
Utilizing traditional and self-developed techniques Chris Cox @wild_canary experiments with two dimensionally extruded silhouettes and modular design to create installations that unobtrusively but imposingly occupy a large volumetric footprint.
Creating what he calls “sculptural scriptures”, through visual metaphor and obscurely connected pop cultural reference in his language of objects Chris Cox @wild_canary explores conceptual hypotheses of the biological possibilities of interpersonal communication as it relates to consciousness and momentary interterconnection using the philosophical method of compound found truths, truths based on theoretical physics and his own perceived personal experiences and observations while pondering the question “what is man.”
Chris Cox @wild_canary creates strictly defined regulatory format constitutions for editions of his maquetted sculptural designs, dictating the scale, materials, finish, tools and techniques used in their fabrication as well as limiting their unit and release structure while also_ in the case of the artist-handmade 12 unit Origin Edition_ enacting the RVI [rapid value inflation] pricing sequence of compounded doubling.

Further experimenting with his abilities of artistic alchemy can be seen in Chris Cox @wild_canary #micromonoprints.
Painted with thin rubber stamps and stencils cut to his sculptural silhouettes in a mechanically and monotonously repetitive unpredictable process of controlled randomness Chris Cox @wild_canary’s #micromonoprints can best be described as abstract expressionist block prints.
Painted with acrylic paint on stonehenge paper utilizing this hand done but seemingly automated method of infinite painting generation, the largest #micromonoprints measure 22”x30” these large #macromonoprints are quite rare as most of Chris Cox @wild_canary’s #micromonoprint paintings measure just 2.5”x2.5” or less and are individually dimebagged as a commentary comparison of the art and drug markets.

With the later cooperation of the mall’s owner, Evan Granof; Chris Cox @wild_canary’s Reindeer Arcade Edition AP continued to grace The Providence Arcade’s interior atrium for the remainder of the 2017 holiday season till the end of January 2018 and was reclaimed by the artist.

Notable Achievements and Recent History
In the spring of 2018 Chris Cox @wild_canary ran a kickstarter campaign successfully fundraising $6000 towards the fabrication of the sculptor’s latest large scale project the 11’tall 13’wide 17’long #wickedbigwindy.
As part of this month long fundraiser Chris Cox @wild_canary created near 450 uniquely photographic and caption advertisement type spreads posted to social media.
Current Projects
The first kickstarter fundraising for the project awarded in June of 2018, the exhibitional male plug of the scale 12 #wickedbigwindy was originally slated to be a four month single handed build unveiled on September 1st 2018 at the Flying Horse Outdoor Sculpture Exhibition on the Pingree School in North Hampton, Massachusetts.
Unfortunately due to general lack of single handed fabrication time, as well as illness incapacitating the artist into 2019, the project has been stalled in the fairing stages of the male plugs 4 modular sculptural components.
The plan going forward for Chris Cox @wild_canary’s #wickedbigwindy project is to complete the exhibitional male plugs of the four modularly sculptural components of the 11’tall 13’wide 17’long playfully abstract dog in his Tiverton,RI Large Scale Studio from which the artist Chris Cox @wild_canary will pull two piece female molds that he will use to then produce identical advanced fiberglass composite scale 12 #wickedbigwindy sculptures in a multicolored edition format.
The first of Chris Cox @wild_canary’s 11’tall 13’wide 17’long four piece modular advanced fiberglass composite #wickedbigwindy sculptures is planned to be unveiled the spring or summer of 2021.
The scale twelve #wickedbigwindy’s durable lightweight fiberglass fabrication and simply connected modular design enables the sculpture to be appropriate for both interior or exterior installation, the sculpture’s four modular components able to easily be individually carried through any standard single width door.

Planned for a timed 2021 release with the scale 12 #wickedbigwindy is a smaller scale #wetwithcolorwindy edition of the same design, the 22”tall 26”wide 34”long edition.
Chris Cox @wild_canary in his Bristol, RI Mid-scale studio is currently in the process of hand-sculpting the male plugs of the sculpture’s four modular components from which two piece female molds will be pulled enabling mass production of identically sculpted scale two #wetwithcolorwindy sculptures.
Initial release of the #wetwithcolorwindy edition is planned to be limited to 50 units created per each of the six primary colors [red orange yellow green blue and purple.] Later a limited run of an Ebony and Ivory Edition will be offered. Each of the smaller scale 2 #wetwithcolorwindy sculptures’ gelcoat finish polished to such a perfection they will seem wet with color.

In his second floor Bristol, RI small scale studio Chris Cox @wild_canary continues production of an increasing number of his sculptural designs in his strictly regulated hand made twelve unit Origin Edition Format including units 1-3 of the #windyoriginedition which were sold by pre-order.
In addition to his Origin Edition production, Chris Cox @wild_canary in the following month; will be exploring the possibilities of a new maquetting material and method in which he will be experimenting with the fully scalable, two step processes of revolutionarily moldless advanced composite forming and fabrication Chris Cox @wild_canary first self developed and proved for the recreatable creation of the solid fiberglass laminate shells of his #pvdrivercrab sculptures.

Currently renovating his second floor #micromonoprint painting studio Chris Cox @wild_canary is in the process of building for his studio a 26”x30” fifty painting drying rack out of pine boards _reclaimed shelves from the closure of the University of Rhode Island bookstore.
Once completed with the fabrication and installation of the hand made drying rack, along with his continued random generation of his averagely 2.5”x2.5” #micromonoprints Chris Cox @wild_canary will embark on the painting of a fifty unit original series of 22”x30” Windy #macromonoprints that are planned to release along with the unveiling of the #wickedbigwindy and #wetwithcolorwindy editions.
