Biography

Gemma Kauffman (b. 1979, UK) is a painter working from a remote studio immersed in the elemental landscape of Alentejo, Portugal.

Moving between figuration and abstraction, she explores colour as a living language, balancing harmony and contrast through layered, intuitive compositions. Influenced by cinema, music, textiles, and a synesthetic sensitivity to colour, her paintings examine the interplay between memory and observation.

Beginning with plants, light and atmospheric landscapes, her spontaneous gestures draw on rhythm, pattern, and repetition to create immersive visual spaces that invite emotional and sensory connection.

Her work is held in private collections across Europe.
