About the Artist
Ella Duret (b.1991, Belgium) is a visual artist whose practice approaches the nude, its curves and shadows. Ella’s painting explore the sensuality of bodies intertwined in their sinuous nature. Intricate in it’s refined shapes, her vision is inspired by the imperfections of nudity, always questioning different ways of longing. Ella lives and works in Brussels, Belgium.
About the Artwork
I don’t like to explain too much about the meaning of a painting and there is a lot to guess with the title of this one. I wanted to create a story about how it’s important to have dreams but too much expectations can be vicious and dangerous. Especially love expectations. They can burn your wings. Icarus should have been satisfied with the present moment instead of always wanting more.
