About the Artwork
My friend Kayla has a garden that she plants every spring in Chicago. She started to send me images of herself with her pet snails, the slugs, spiders, and other bugs she found as she planted and harvested. This drawing is based on an image she sent me. I’m fascinated by the tiny world small creatures exist in, and their part in a much larger ecosystem. How spiders weave webs, how tadpoles transform into frogs, how bugs tunnel underground. New narratives that are emerging in my work are subjects engaged in exploration, play, and observation of the visible/ invisible processes of nature.
