Biography

Varvara Uhlik (b.1997) is a Ukrainian visual artist based in London. Her work explores Eastern European culture, focusing on the Soviet era’s impact on her generation through themes of identity and memory. Combining analogue and digital methodologies, Varvara creates an
interplay between staged photography and archival materials, reflecting the complexities of her cultural heritage.

In 2023 and 2024, Varvara was a finalist for Paris Photo Carte Blanche, and in 2024, she was recognised as a Ones to Watch artist by the British Journal of Photography. Her work has been exhibited at Encontros da Imagem and the Milan Photo Fair and featured in publications including BJP, Photoworks, Der Greif, and Yogurt Magazine.
