Biography

Teodora Nitsolova is a Bulgarian-born, London/Glasgow based artist. She currently lives in London finishing her last year of the MFA Painting degree at the Slade School of Fine Arts. Teodora’s practice arises from a need to find sense from living in apocalyptic times, feeling of displacement, atomic existence and absence of communities. She creates her painting-scapes site responsively through assemblages of unstretched canvases, mural making, wooden panels, textile sculptures and hand-forged metal constructions and talismans. Through her work she investigates the ineffable. Using errantry as a method to embody states of uncertainty and to quest after where the hidden resides. Her practice is concerned with the transhistorical and the dialogue beyond timelines. When creating she
aims to activate idiosyncratic, micro moments of world destroying and world making. Teodora has a Bachelor Degree in Stage Design and was supported by Creative Scotland to participate in the New Art School Mentorship Programme, 2021/2022. Most recently she received the Sarabande Foundation Emerging Artist Award.
