About the Artist
Aleksey Kondratyev (b.1993, Kyrgyzstan) is a visual artists whose photographic works explore materials and their surfaces as signifiers of underlying global influences. Aleksey's Ice Fishers series examines the Kazakh fishermen who have set out on the frozen Ishim River, capturing the aesthetic forms of these improvised protective coverings and the way in which they function as inadvertent sculptures. Aleksey has been published in the Financial Times, CNN, Der Spiegel, the New York Times, Vogue, and National Geographic. He lives and works in Los Angeles, USA.
