About the Artist
Frank Coffie is originally from Accra, Ghana born on 1992 10 October. Art was a hidden skill for him until the year 2010. when an artist friend helped him to develop a love for it. With that passion, he was fortunate enough to study Fine Art at Ghanatta College of Arts and Design. This inspired a desire for further knowledge and understanding. As there was still so much to learn and experience, Frank embarked on studies at Ruth Prowse School of Art in South Africa. He completed in 2017 and currently work and based in Ghana. Conceptually, he’s exploring the idea of belonging through semi abstract and figurative bodies in temporary spaces. By using random photographs from his own experience and visual memories combining the imperfections that comes from using Yarns and oil paint to create generalized outlines, shape and forms. With these in creating his work evokes memory of the past that allows one to wish to exit or exist in that space for a while either at a point of defeat or moment of curiosity that are intimate becoming the immediate interaction Frank’s work shows.
