Biography

Madeleine Wagstaffe is a London based British artist, currently completing her final year Central Saint Martins. Madeleines' practice is process-led, exploring painting as an action rather than representation. Working with large scale paintings, her work investigates gesture, bodily energy, and the relationship between artist, material, and viewer. Her art is a reflection of the complexities of life and the subjective experiences that shape her perspective. Each work captures the thread of everyday emotions and embodied gesture that is archived within the paint. Through exploration of Kinaesthetic Expressionism and how gesture can be translated with dynamic forms and colour psychology, ultimately, her work invites others to relate their own experiences within the tapestry of modern existence.
