Biography

Katy Papineau (b.1991, UK) is a figurative artist based in London. She is currently exploring themes of love, theatricality, dressing up, and decoration in the home. Her paintings often depict everyday, intimate scenes, layered with references to art history, fairy tales, and literature. The paintings themselves are made up of layer upon layer of materials. Katy mixes paint from raw pigment, building up areas of colour with paint, crayon, and pencil. She often incorporates monoprint and collage into her paintings. Katy lives and works in London, UK.
