In The Studio
French artist Ivan Arlaud investigates the status of images, using painting as a means to play with narration and begin to tell fantastical stories suspended between imagination and reality. We met with Ivan to tell us more about growing up in Lyon, unexpected sources of inspiration, and a pivotal moment in his artistic career.
Ivan Arlaud (b.1996, France) is a French artist whose work investigates the status of images, using painting as a means to sacralise. His works fuse images extracted from his imagination, daily life and literature, piecing them together in a blended kaleidoscopic vision. Playing with narration, his works begin to tell fantastical stories that translate everything personally internal and external into creative material, suspended somewhere between imagination and reality. Ivan lives and works in Lyon, France.
