Feraul Fosso

Biography

Born in Bamendou (West Cameroon) in 1996, Feraul lives and works in Douala. Early on, he discovered an a love for painting by reworking wake-up and watchtower brochures from the Christian organization Jehovah’s Witnesses. In 2013, he joined the Italian art training institute in Mbalmayo, graduating in 2016. Following his art studies, Feraul found it incredibly challenging to support his practice. He initially collected certain objects and items from garbage cans in Douala in order to sell them to finance the purchase of artistic material. Later, he met the late Viking Kanganyam master with whom he took a course to perfect various painting techniques. In 2021, he began his career with a few Africanized copies of works by some of the great European masters. Feraul fosso considers himself a researcher, as his artistic approach explores heritage, memory and the human condition.
