Purple and Yellow, 2019
Oil paint on canvas
About the Artist
Megan Priestley (b. 1995, UK) is a British artist whose practice explores concepts of ambiguity projected through everyday experience. She holds a Master’s Degree in Fine Art from the University of Bournemouth. Her gestural mark-making and bright colour palettes reflect the intuitive process she experiences when creating her works, heightening the viewer's bodily energy and encouraging illusions of movement through her work. Megan lives and works in London, UK.
About the Artwork
Exploring an expanding composition from one to another, ‘Purple and Yellow’ was painted alongside another canvas where I used continuous strokes to connect the two. Removing the painting from the other, gives it its own identity as marks disappear to a forgotten place which will never be seen. I enjoy finishing a painting on a cliff hanger, open to interpretations.
