About the Artist
Clio Sze (b.1988, France) grew up surrounded by artists, including her father, in the artist’s studios of Pont de Sèvres, in the suburb of Paris. She discovered drawing and sculpture there as a child, and later studied at the Ensad of Paris. After graduation, she begins to draw and paint in her studio, series of graphite, pastels, watercolors and oil paintings. Through many medium, and under the influence of artists like Sam Szafran, Raymond Mason, Avigdor Arikha, but also the ancient Chinese painting, she seeks for her own language to show the human in the world he has built, and the experience of being as a human. Her works sometimes focuses on painting the strong and heavy presence of reality through a work of models and textures, sometimes on veiling it with a dreamlike and mysterious sensation. Clio lives and works in Boulogne Billancourt, France.
