About the Artist
Arda Aslanian is a figurative painter based in Amman, Jordan. Much of her work explores the possibilities of the human body, with a particular emphasis on the female form and the complexities of framing women within a patriarchal society. Her subjects, who are knowingly observed while simultaneously rebellious, act as mirrors for her innermost feelings. Through researching art history and practicing traditional painting, Aslanian infuses the techniques of the Old Masters within her work, and is inspired from a wide range of sources from Baroque colourists to contemporary classical realism.
