About the Artist

Kemi Onabule (b. 1995, UK) is a British artist of Nigerian/Greek descent whose practice is a response to a world seemingly in chaos. Her images, set within a utopic and yet layered reality, not only address personal notions of belonging and identity but also challenge economic, ecological and societal norms. She uses the female figure, often intimately connected to nature, to depict a world unburdened by, and thus questioning, such norms. Home-educated until the age of eleven, her artistic abilities were allowed to grow in a non-institutional setting. She works mostly in paint, sculpture and drawing. Kemi lives and works in London, UK.
