About the Artist
Nina Saunders’ (b.1958, Denmark) work utilises a range of materials with a variety of processes. Using found objects, she subverts their function and form, establishing something universal. Her creations can at first seem familiar and domestic, even humorous, but that feeling of familiarity is only temporary; on closer inspection, the unsettling nature of the work creeps into the foreground. The world is turned inside out, upside-down, questioning our ways of thinking about everyday objects and revealing a complexity that only art can possess. Her art is frequently provocative and playful, continuing in the surrealist tradition from the last century. Nina lives and works in London, UK.
