About the Artist

Kate Dunn (b. 1993, UK) is British artist who, having been classically trained, references the historical through contemporary languages of paint. Her work, being predominantly abstract, encourages paint to be experienced as paint, rather than as an imitation of something else. Yet, through its historical structure, her work deliberately contradicts abstraction, referencing a large archive of imagery. In the adaption of both the historical and contemporary, her paintings are a sort of conglomerate, a contemporary fossil not belonging to any specific time. Kate has studied at Central Saint Martins, The Florence Academy of Art and City of Guilds of London Art School. She has taught at institutions such as The Art Academy and City & Guilds of London Art School. She lives and works in London, UK.
