About the Artist
Holly Elan Watson (b.1995, UK) works with inks and acrylics to create intimate and playful paintings inspired by the everyday. Her works often explore sexuality, taste and touch through the depiction of various fruits and foods, playing with the viewer’s senses and engaging their imagination with a subtle humour. She uses bright, indulgent colours to paint her cropped and intimate works and celebrates the beauty in potentially overlooked moments and areas of merging and uncontrollable colour. Holly lives and works in London, UK.
About the Artwork
During the 2020 lockdown I made a series of paintings looking at the comfort you can find from your own company and 6 different ways to hold your own hand. The use of bright colour was a way to bring joy to this possibly lonely act.
