Biography

William Jiang (b.1993, China) is a contemporary visual artist who is influenced by traditional Chinese poetic aesthetics as well as Zen Buddhism, Lining Jiang utilizes the value of emptiness and stillness to visualize the invisible subtlety and emotion of the overlooked scenes of his life. His painting is a blended process of digital imagery, oil painting, tape, and airbrush painting. He conceal his base digital images with blurring and cropping and then juxtapose these with a flat neutral color that imitates the delicate digital blur effect. While contextualizing the images in a digital context, He try to disintegrate the boundary between representation and abstraction. The resulting paintings are characterized by shifts between flat planes of color and illusory depth, allowing the audience to experience emotional resonance and the authenticity of reality.
