Biography
Jan Valik (b.1987, Slovakia) is a visual artist whose works are connected to the ideas of painting as a psychological space where relationship between human perception and the visual experience consists of complex ties but also of fine nuances. His paintings balance on the verge where abstract and figurative becomes fluid and evokes a spatial and pictorial ambiguity. It is an intuitive exploration of non- narrative, conjured and dislocated territories and atmospheres underscored by contemporary issues of global displacement and migration, environmental anxiety and posthumanist understanding of histories. Jan lives and works in London, UK.
