Biography

Jackie Leishman (b.1979, USA) is a contemporary visual artist who grew up in Georgia, moving to the Los Angeles area after completing her Masters of Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Art in San Francisco. Originally trained in photography, she now works in collage. Using both traditional and non-traditional raw materials, including fragments from old projects, she explores the dichotomies she witnesses. Her mixed media pieces and other works on paper range from small diptychs to all consuming canvases that span from the floor to the ceiling. It is the push and pull between two ideas that intrigues her most; the animating tensions between destruction and creation, expansion and contraction, explosion and implosion. Jackie lives and works in Claremont, California.
