Biography

Hawazin Al-otaibi (b.1993 Saudi-American) visual artist who works mainly with painting, audio, photo, and video editing. Her current work examines the notions of gender, masculinity, and self-representation on social media in the ever-changing cultural and political dynamics in the Arab world, specifically Gulf countries. She explore those themes through experimentation with motion glitches and distortions of paintings, photographs taken, or collected imagery from social media platforms and gender portrayal imagery from encountered cultural and religious books. Hawazin lives and works in London, UK.
