Biography

Ewan White (b.1997, London) is a British artist working mostly in oil paint and drawing. He graduated with a BA from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2021, where he was awarded the Painter’s Company Scholarship. Before this he completed the Foundation Year at the Royal Drawing School. While at the Slade Ewan spent four months on exchange at the New York Studio School and a month with the Rome Art Program; to which he returned the following year as a teacher. He was awarded a grant from the Elisabeth Greenshields Foundation in 2017. The art of the past is a source of reference and inspiration for Ewan; he has just returned from a three-month residency studying and drawing paintings in the Museo del Prado in Madrid. Ewan is especially influenced by both early Renaissance painters and the early modernists, with a focus on composition and religious feeling. Observation is central to his practice; as a means of interpreting and interacting with the physical, lived world. Ewan lives and works in London, UK.
