Biography

Emanuel de Carvalho is a Portuguese-Canadian artist whose oversized paintings explore issues pertaining to fluidity in gender and identity. His carefully constructed compositions, with bodies depicted in performative stances, are charged with an invisible sense of otherness that triggers the viewer’s perceptive responses to queer imagery. Emanuel lives and works in London, UK.
